Welcome to Creators Garden!

My name is Joseph Pitawanakwat, and I am dedicated to learning and sharing the Anishinaabe Knowledge required to access the good life The Great Lakes region has to offer us.

I have a team of supporters dedicated to helping with various aspects of an immense restoration of knowledges and implementing extensive education strategies.

Creators Garden - Traditional Medicine

Joseph Pitawanakwat has been teaching and curating Anishinaabe educational resources on plant medicines for over 13 years.

Creators Garden - Birds

Welcome to Creators Garden - Birds! This is where we do everything we can to regather and educate on bird names and significant Indigenous bird knowledges, these knowledges that help us live the life The Great Lakes region has to offer, Mino Bimaadiziwin, A good life.

Indigenous Outdoor Education

Learning is a holistic experience, we have to get you outside to maximize our potential impact. We created extensive opportunities to prime your learning with us through extensive virtual programming and physical educational products like pamphlets, booklets and posters.

Indigenous Land Assessment and Restoration Planning

We are all extremely well-trained biologists with different areas of expertise, in Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Plants, Birds, Herps, Soil Ecology, Mammals, Aquatics and Bugs.

Together we accomplish meticulously thorough assessments throughout Indigenous Territories and extensive reports and consultation to accomplish a restoration/development plan.

Creators Garden is an effort to provide land-based education. To shift conventional paradigms of how we see and understand and manage The Great Lakes Region. To see the high-value of Indigenous knowledges in an opportunity to increase human and environmental health, simultaneously.
